Today I wanted to share with you a few FREE resources to use while learning how to play guitar that I recently came across on the Learn and Master Guitar site. Did you know that they offer free live guitar lessons every Tuesday night at 7PM CST through the power of streaming video? I just discovered this earlier this week and decided to drop in for one of their lessons on how to play guitar. I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted with the face of Steve Krenz himself (the instructor of Learn and Master Guitar) instead of some other Legacy Learning Systems staff member. He was actually there taking questions, giving tips and tricks, and just having a good time talking to all of us. Right away I could see he has a passion for teaching and talking all things guitar. I chimed in and asked a few questions by joining the chat room and he was very helpful. His session was dedicated to beginners and he also agreed to cover more topics on how to play guitar in the future based on what people in the Gibson’s Learn and Master Guitar forum say they want to learn.
The Best Part
The best part of the live sessions by far is that you don’t have to own the course or be in any kind of special club or anything to join in with the Tuesday night live lessons! They are absolutely free with no strings attached (pun intended). All you need is a computer with an internet connection, some time set aside, and the passion to learn how to play guitar. The lessons are also recorded and you can watch the latest lesson as well as any live lessons when they are taking place at the Gibson’s Learn and Master Guitar LIVE! page. Go check it out! I’ll tell you it is worth it just to hear Steve play.
Do You Have an iPhone, Droid, or Intel Based Phone?
If you have one of these phones then you absolutely have to get this free guitar application. I have it on my iphone and use it all the time. It includes a tuner that functions just like a regular electronic tuner works which is great if you are just learning how to play guitar and haven’t trained your ears to tune to a given pitch yet. Save yourself $20 and just grab this phone app if you have one of these phones. Also, If you are looking for more free guitar lessons that teach you how to play guitar then look no further. You will find tons of lessons from the actual Gibson’s Learn and Master Guitar course that you can view right from your phone and practice along.
Also included is a metronome. Hopefully you know how important it is to keep a steady rhythm when practicing your guitar and this is a tool that will help you do just that. You can choose your tempo and time signature and start using it anytime and anywhere you happen to be playing or practicing. Then there is the chords list. When learning how to play guitar this will come in handy as a quick reference for you when you need it. Since you probably have your phone with you everywhere you go, you will never forget how to play a chord again. Just look it up in the list and there is a chord diagram right in the application to help you. The lessons and features in the application are constantly being updated to go check out the Gibson Learn and Master Guitar App yourself and see what you think!
